It is with great pride and humility that I assume the highest office of the Darjeeling District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd. in this significant year, which is also being celebrated globally as the International Year of Cooperatives. This moment is not only historic but also a reminder of the values of cooperation, inclusiveness, and collective progress upon which our institution stands.
The present Board is fully committed to revolutionizing the cooperative banking system. While remaining rooted in the noble spirit of cooperation, we are also conscious of the urgent need to embrace change, adapt to modern banking trends, and compete with today’s fast-evolving financial market. Our vision is to open doors for progressive and aggressive banking while continuing to serve the people at the grassroots.
In this era of Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation, one of the biggest challenges we face is the non-availability of mobile banking facilities. We recognize this as a major gap and have placed it at the top of our priority list. I pledge, on behalf of the Board, that we will complete all formalities and roll out mobile banking services before the next financial year, thus ensuring that our members enjoy seamless and modern banking at their fingertips.
Our mission goes beyond banking. We are dedicated to the empowerment of youth, women, and agricultural farmers through easy access to financial resources, training, and inclusive support systems. As part of this vision, the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) will be integrated with the main banking system, enabling us to take rural banking to greater heights.
Equally important, we will intensify awareness programs to reach every member of society, particularly at the PACS level. This is your people’s bank — a bank that belongs to you, grows with you, and thrives because of you. Together, we must cultivate a sense of ownership and belonging that strengthens our cooperative spirit.
Looking to the future, we have set ourselves a bold yet achievable goal — to double our deposit volume within the next financial year. With the trust of our members, the hard work of our staff, and the guidance of our cooperative principles, I am confident that we will reach this milestone.
